Patriot's Parade planned in Houma

This Independence Day weekend, Tri-parish residents will have plenty of free entertainment options to celebrate America's 233rd birthday.

After a year without any public festivities in Terrebonne Parish, the first ever Patriot's Parade and Fireworks Display in Houma, promises to be the biggest, loudest bash on the bayou.

The festivities feature a parade, free food and drinks, concerts and a massive fireworks show.

The Employee Free Choice Act, now being debated in Congress, is unfair to employers, said New Orleans attorney Keith Pyburn Jr. speaking in Houma last week at an event hosted by the South Central Industrial Association.

"It's a one-sided Act," he said.

Tri-parishes ready to celebrate freedom

Terrebonne Parish residents can again celebrate their country and its freedoms this summer with a community event offering the traditional hot dogs, music and fireworks.

Last year's Fourth of July came and went with no public display in Terrebonne, sparking a Houma eye doctor to team with local veterans to revive the parish's Independence Day festivities.
